From Loznica to navigated implantology

I started out in a small town on the Drina, where breaking through as a young dentist was almost impossible. So I made the decision that completely changed my career: in this job there is no room for "roughly".

I come from Loznica. At that point there were already excellent dentists here, and honestly, as a young dentist you had no room for error. Competition was not the only problem. The problem was money, knowledge and opportunity. But one thing was clear to me from the very beginning: money without knowledge means nothing.

Back as a student in Belgrade I fell in love with oral surgery. That is where I realised I wanted to go into implantology and to be serious about it. The real turning point was when I decided to open my own practice. From that moment there was no room for excuses.

Constant investment begins: in knowledge, in training across the region and the world, and in equipment. And this is where most people make a mistake: they wait for the investment to pay off. I did not. I invested and I still invest, so that I can be more certain in my work.

I have been doing implantology for more than eight years. I started with the simpler cases. I never took on anything I was not one hundred percent sure I could deliver for the patient. That is why I introduced 3D planning and navigated implantology very early. Because today an implant must not be placed by eye. You have to know where it goes, at what angle and what the final result will look like, before the surgery even starts.

But what people do not see are the emotions. When a patient gets a new smile, those reactions, the tears, the hugs, or when we treat children with developmental disabilities and try to help them without pain. Those are the moments that tell you this is not just a job. This is life.
